[attr="class","classicbox"]Shanleigh is of average height for a woman at 5'5" with a slim build. She has soft features; appearing very feminine and inviting. She isn't as athletic as her sister, though she is physically fit, her weight coming to about 115 pounds. Her long dark hair falls in a wavy cascade similar to a waterfall down to mid-back and she usually lets it stay that way, especially because it's hard to find a suitable style that matches the tiara that her mother constantly wants her to wear. Her pale creamy complexion contrasts sharply with her dark hair and makes her vibrant bright blue eyes stand out. She often wears dresses, though she would look just as splendid in a tunic and pants.[break][break]

Shanleigh is rather independent and prefers to make up her own mind about things rather than adhereing to "the way things are supposed to be." She is very stubborn, much to the detriment of her mother, but she is also dutiful and will follow through on anything she feels responsible for. Shanleigh is kind to a fault and does not have a mean bone in her body; that does not mean that she is weak. She is ever the romantic and she loves stories about knights rescuing fair maidens, though she would not admit that to anyone except MAYBE her sister! (After all, her sister would be the one person that wouldn't judge her for it.)

[break][break]Shanleigh was born the third child of Edan and Richeal, the royalty of Aliliv. Her older sister, Kensa, was born six years her senior, while her older brother, Adrian, was born four years her senior. In royal families there is always the pressure to have an heir and a spare; meaning that as the third and youngest child Shanleigh would have been an afterthought. Their father was unconventional and opted to make his eldest daughter his heir while their mother wanted Adrian to be the heir as the only son. Since Kensa bucked the norm in regards to gender roles, this caused Richeal to focus a lot of attention on shaping Shanleigh into the perfect princess.

For the most part, Shanleigh was the dutiful princess. She loved wearing dresses, she enjoyed sewing and making things with her own hands, including working in the kitchen. However, she also loves horseback riding, climbing trees and being outside. During one of those adventures, about the time Shanleigh was five, she met Bran. Bran was only two years older than Shanleigh and he worked in the stables helping his father, the stablemaster. Bran and Adrian never got along; indeed, Bran found the prince to be rather uppity, but he enjoyed the company of both princesses. Shanleigh, after lessons, would often take off to the stables and convince Bran to play outside with her., either riding horses, climbing trees, running around, or even farfetched ideas such as pretending to be knights. (Honestly Bran was more interested in being a knight than Shanleigh ever was, but she enjoyed not having to be a princess every second of the day.) The Stablemaster, being kind, often let the two of them play together, not seeing any harm in it.

It all came to an end when Richeal found out about it seven years later; she was furious and did not want the one daughter that she had control over to be playing with a mere common boy. Not wanting the situation to come to her husband's attention, Richeal merely started keeping Shanleigh too busy with lessons and responsibilities for her to have time to seek out Bran.

Shanleigh often daydreams that Bran was able to become a knight, and she often wonders what happened to her dearest friend. The only other person that she is close with is her sister, Kensa, whom she adores completely. Richeal kept Adrian and Shanleigh from becoming very close to their father.
